Encourage/enforce well maintained fences

In Capitol Park we have a lot of properties that have poorly maintained fences. The fences do not necessarily enclose anything, are cobbled together, and are badly damaged due to the lack of maintenance of brush. With trees and such growing up through them it is impossible to maintain such a fence. The City does a great job enforcing junk and junk vehicles but the ordinances also prohibit poorly maintained fences. I believe encouragement from the neighbors and enforcement by the city would go a long way. I believe fence/property line maintenance makes a big difference on the appearance of a neighborhood.

An online conversation about making Des Moines’ neighborhoods even better places to live, work and play.
